WHOA! KICKING HORSE COFFEE NAMED ONE OF CANADA’S BEST PLACES TO WORK.

INVERMERE, BC – Kicking Horse Coffee named #15 on this year’s Best Workplaces in Canada list.

“Honoured? Yes we are! Surprised? Nope,” said Elana Rosenfeld, Kicking Horse Coffee’s CEO. “Our team kicks ass. That means equal parts hard work and having fun. Our people are passionate about working together to wake people up with a delicious, mysterious, inspiring beverage. It’s hard not to have fun at work!”

The list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: employee feedback and an in-depth review of the organization’s culture including credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

This year’s list received over 300 nominations and over 60,000 employees participated in the 2015 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.

Kicking Horse Coffee is situated in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, in Invermere, BC. As Canada’s #1 Fair Trade and organic coffee, they’ve achieved industry notoriety for over 20 years, for refusing to compromise on quality, commitment to great taste and down-to-earth values. They’re also renowned for their playful spirit and sometimes cheeky irreverence. They’re proud of their stubborn commitment to great product, community spirit and ability to stir things up.

“We’ve never been too happy with the concept of status quo. That’s why we’ve always pushed the boundaries of our industry to make better coffee, to put goodness back in every cup. And we’ve pushed the boundaries of our workplace. We’ve always believed that work should be fun,” said Rosenfeld. “We’ve always wanted to desire to come to work. That’s why we’re located in Invermere, in a Rocky Mountain playground. That’s why our team smiles so much. We know that happy, healthy living translates to a happy, healthy workplace.”

In addition to great team dynamics, Kicking Horse Coffee offers workplace perks like incentive bonuses, weekly free lunches, family-centred philosophies, a cool staff lounge and days-off to ride powder at the hometown ski resort. As a small company there’s no night shifts; and perhaps best of all, employees have a generous supply of coffee in the work place, and also at home!

The team at Kicking Horse Coffee plays hard together too, in group outings that just may involve skiing, a game of shinny, a mountain bike excursion or just a good old-fashioned campfire shindig; all developing deeper connections to the place where they live.

“We’re a small company and we’re all committed to doing great work,” said Rosenfeld. “Doing our best everyday requires depending on each other, and when everyone you work with also wants to do a kick ass job; well, it makes things pretty fun. We’re proud to be recognized for that.”
