The goal of this training plan is to effectively align existing training with local employment opportunities in the region. This Regional Skills Training Plan will be completed by April 30, 2013.

The Columbia Valley focus group consultation takes place on February 19th at the CVCC/Lions Hall from 6pm – 8pm please RSVP to jsundstrom@cotr.bc.ca

About the Kootenay Regional Workforce Table

The KRWT is composed of individuals representing a range of stakeholders in the Kootenays. Membership includes representation from Aboriginal Peoples, industry, employers, educators, regional districts/municipalities, community service providers, economic development organizations, labour and others.

The Kootenay RWT is supported by a secretariat provided by COTR and Selkirk College. The secretariat’s role is to work with stakeholders to gather input into the development of the RSTP. The secretariat also provides logistical and administrative support to the Kootenay RWT Task Force, and holds a Labour Market Partnership agreement with the B.C. government to support the work of the RWT.

The provincial government participates on the Kootenay RWT as ex-officio members.

Participating in the development of the Training Plan

To inform the development of the RSTP, the Kootenay RWT will be gathering information from stakeholders throughout the region, including Aboriginal peoples, business and industry, community leaders, training institutions, labour representatives and others.

To this end, we invite you to participate in either a focus group, face-to-face meeting, or a telephone interview to discuss the workforce issues and training needs of your community, organization, sector, or business.

The Kootenay RWT has contracted Ingenia Consulting to carry out the research and development of the RSTP. They will conduct the interviews with key individuals and prepare a training plan that represents the needs of our communities in the Kootenay region.

The invitation included with the email includes an invitation to the information gathering process. We hope that you are able to participate. RSVP instructions are included in the invitation.

If you would like additional information on the work of the KRWT, please see the link we have provided below.

Thank you for your participation in developing a Regional Skills Training Plan for the Kootenay Region of B.C.

Sincerely,

David Ridge, Chair, Kootenay Regional Workforce Table
