October 23rd, 2014 – The 16th Annual Business Awards held at the Copper Point Resort was an evening of celebrating success, achievement and excellence. The Radium Hot Springs and Columbia Valley Chamber’s of Commerce partnered for the 4th year to celebrate business demonstrating just a few of the individuals and businesses that make our communities excellent places to live, play and work.

There has always been a general theme and message that when we work together we can create something better than we can when we work individually but this year the message was emphasized throughout the event. The award was the result of an unexpected collaboration between two competing artists, photographers Kyla Brown and Kimberly Rae Sanderson and the result was nothing short of spectacular. The inspiring piece wasn’t anything that one might expect from two successful photographers. They describe it best:

2014 AwardThis piece tells a story of just what is possible when creative minds join together to inspire and nourish one vision. It is a symbol for our community of connection and growth. It is a reflection not only of our valley and the luminous people and businesses that thrive here, but of ourselves and the infinite depth that we each have to offer. It is our hope that in our willingness to be open and vulnerable to our gifts and our strengths, a shared recognition will embrace our community…encouraging a celebration of one another and igniting a revolution of co-creation.

It is in the joining of forces, talents and visions that anything is possible.

“When I asked the artists if they would be willing to work together neither one of them hesitated, they both agreed and were excited by the prospect. I believe that when people can put aside their own individual agendas and share a common goal that is bigger than themselves they create something quite amazing and unexpected and this collaboration demonstrates that belief,” said Susan Clovechok. “Imagine if we could work this same way as a community.”
