We all know someone who has had to travel for healthcare. The reasons for health-related travel vary from emergency trauma to acute mental health; neonatal to cardiac. But all too often, visits are unplanned and increasingly lengthy.
Kelowna General Hospital is the Interior’s tertiary referral centre and provides the majority of care previously provided by lower mainland hospitals. Accommodation is expensive and, in popular summer months, nearly impossible to find. If families are required to stay for an extended period that can amount to a significant expense that is often too large for a young family to bear. That’s why the KGH Foundation has committed to raising $8 million to build JoeAnna’s House, a home-away-from-home for families throughout the Interior. JoeAnna’s House will keep families together when they need it most.
We will be visiting communities throughout the Kootenays to share more information about the impact JoeAnna’s House will have for you & your loved ones and the ‘Better Together’ campaign.
It’s free to attend so come out and see how you can support JoeAnna’s House so our family, friends and neighbours will have the support they need, when they need it.
